Find your profit margin and markup from a cost and price, or the price you need for a target margin. Stop confusing the two.
Margin and markup are not the same number, and mixing them up quietly erodes your profit. Margin is profit as a percentage of the price; markup is profit as a percentage of the cost. A 40% margin is a 66.7% markup on the same job. Price on margin — it's the one that tells you what you actually keep.
Add your costs as line items in a Retainer proposal and the margin is visible before you send the quote. Try Retainer free
